The Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association (CHTA) announced on Saturday that Jamaica will host the 42nd Caribbean Travel Marketplace, which will take place from May 20-22 in 2024.
The CHTA’s biggest event brings buyers and sellers together to discuss the Caribbean tourism industry. The Caribbean Travel Marketplace last took place in Jamaica in 2019, just before the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Montego Bay Convention Centre will host the event next year.
CHTA President Nicola Madden Greig stated in a press release that “we are thrilled” that Jamaica will build on the huge success of this year’s Marketplace in Barbados. This is the place where deals are made and new and established buyers can access a wealth of travel products and experience throughout the Caribbean.
Madden-Greig said that the marketplace was “where we in the industry met, collaborated, strategized and got smarter on how to best share the Caribbean experience to visitors from all over the world.”
Marketplace 42 will feature some new features that will enhance the overall experience, which the CHTA president compared to the Caribbean Travel Forum & Awards.
Edmund Bartlett, Jamaica’s Tourism Minister said: “At Caribbean Travel Marketplace we can demonstrate to the world the resilience of the Caribbean tourism industry that has made Jamaica a safe and secure destination for both locals and tourists alike.” It is fitting that Jamaica hosts this premier regional event, as we continue our path of growth.
This event will benefit our tourism buyers and suppliers, and create strong partnerships for the future. The event will provide participants with the opportunity to experience different destinations over a period of time.
In a press release, Robin Russell (President of the Jamaica Hotel & Tourist Association) said that the event was a great opportunity to show off the diverse offerings and experiences available in Jamaica and throughout the Caribbean.
