Nassau Paradise Island Experiences a Surge in Visitor Arrivals

According to Joy Jibrilu of the Nassau Paradise Promotion Board, the Caribbean’s post pandemic travel boom can be seen on Nassau Paradise Island where data show a significant growth in visitation.

Jibrilu stated that through July 2023 the NPIPB reported a 15 percent rise in “total non Caribbean [airline] seating to Nassau as compared to 2022.”

She said that the passenger traffic at Lynden Pindling International Airport grew by 33 percent in May. Nassau receives 38 daily nonstop flights.

Jibrilu said that the visitor and airline statistics also match NPIPB’s stats. “We have seen a huge increase in visitors to [the Nassau Paradise Island Website], and these visits are converting to actual visits to the destination,” Jibrilu said.

Jibrilu said, “Our website traffic is up by 85 percent from the same period last year.”

Also, “total referrals from our website to our partner resorts increased by 68.2 per cent to nearly one million referrals for our members [resorts].

The Bahamas has increased airline access this year for West Coast travelers by adding new flights to Nassau from Alaska Airlines and JetBlue. JetBlue will begin weekly flights from Los Angeles International Airport on November 4, to Nassau’s Lynden Pindling Airport.

Alaska Airlines will begin December 15 with four weekly flights from Los Angeles International Airport, and three weekly flights from Seattle-Tacoma International Airport.

The Bahamas celebrate their 50th year of independence this year, which coincides with the 50th anniversary celebration of the iconic Graycliff Hotel in Nassau.

Bahamas officials celebrated the 50th anniversary celebration of their independence from the United Kingdom by hosting cultural shows and Junanoo performances. On July 10, 1973, the establishment of self government began.
